Empire Engagement

On a school trip to New York, I got a beautiful picture of a couple getting engaged on the Empire State Building. Because it was a film camera, I didn’t know until two days later that the shots I got are just about my favorite ever.

Unfortunately, I didn’t ask for their names. Now I can’t:

1) Give them a copy of the photo
2) Use the photo for college scholarship competitions (I need a model release form)

I would love to find them.

Thank you,

Jenny

I don’t know about your specific scholarships, but you can certainly use these beautiful photos for any normal photo contest or display. It’s photographed in a public place and you have all the legal rights to the images you would ever need. No model release or permission is required. It’s no different than the work I do as a photojournalist.

Thanks. It was a really beautiful moment. Unfortunately, since they are recognizable, I need a model release form for many competitions. I’m sure I can find some that won’t require it, but the big ones do.

I’m glad you all like it!

I hope you find this couple. It is such a wonderful & unexpected moment and you happened to have captured it on film! I'm sure they would love to share that moment with their loved ones by showing the picture because no matter how you tell the story, it won't compare to actually "seeing" the expressions on their faces, that's priceless. I lost my SD card in August of 2008, with many, many pictures of my granddaughter & I celebrating her 13th birthday in New York City. It was a wonderful day at Madame Tusseaud's Wax Museum, sightseeing, eating out. Anything she wanted to do that day, we did. Unfortunately I dropped my camera & didn't realize until we were home hours later that the SD card had popped out. I check this site every wk hoping someone has found the card. Keep your fingers crossed for my granddaughter & me. The sad part is, we don't have a single picture to put in a frame. I hope someone found the card & just hasn't found this site yet. In the meantime, I'll keep checking every friday as I have been doing for 1&1/2 yrs….
